I repainted this for my uncle. But it doesn't have any identifying marks on it. We were just curious about what it was and how old it was.

Y'all be careful out there and don't catch'em all!
Looks like an Arbogast Sputterbug.

Who controls John Gill?
Arbogast Sputterfuss
Not sure about the make , but I’ll give you my 1/2 cent worth of advice.. never repaint a bait until you know what it is/ worth..There are some extremely valuable baits out there that bring good money in fair condition and are almost worthless when repainted.
My uncle insisted that he wanted to use it again. I told him that it could be worth something. He said "Ain't worth a damn unless it catches fish!" Lol

Looks like you guys are right. Only difference i see is that "U" shaped lip in the front. But maybe a different year or something. Thanks for the help. Now maybe I can find me one or two.

It's not a Sputterfus, it's an Arbogast Sputterbug. The older most valuable ones had the "U" on the front.
Looks like a winner bait to me .
