Speedo clogged, bit tip broke off inside

I know a guy who was clearing out his speedo hole with a small drill bit as we all have done many times. This time the bit snapped off inside and is stuck.

Any suggestions on getting the bit out? How thick is the cone right there?

Might be able to blow the broken bit back out with compressed air from the speedometer end of hose.

How did it break off while spinning drill bit with his fingers?

He had it on a small drill. It binded and snapped almost instantly.

I assumed this when I asked... No reason for power tools on this procedure. My post is to save someone else from this at a later date.

The cone is thick there, if it is flush then you can grind a little bit around it until you get ahold if it and work it out. You can reshape it with a grinder for the cone. Any deeper and it will have to be built back up with a tig and redrilled. Obviously don't let him drill it! As far as the hole size, the bigger you go the more surface area is exposed and the higher the speedo reads so start small. CJ
