    98 / 99 FICHT 175 Block Compatibility

I have a 99 175 Ficht that leaned out and damaged a cylinder. Model # is E175FPXEEN. I bought a used powerhead that's supposed to be a 99 175 but it has the fuel rail style injectors which leads me to believe it's a 98. All I need is the short block so my question is are the 98 and 99 short blocks the same?

Not the same according to parts listing. Listing for 1999 shows no part number at all, but 1998 shows 0439524.

Suggest you compare bottom of powerheads for similar patten and gasket. (There were different gaskets, so some of those models had differences.)

A 1998 block uses threaded injectors that screw into the cylinderhead and retained by a locknut. A '99 FICHT block uses flange mounted injectors that will not interchange with '98s.

I have good pinned 99 heads and a complete fuel system. I only need the block, crank and pistons. Will the 98 block accept my pinned 99 heads? Does the 98 block have the same oil galleys?

I just started pulling things apart and can see the lower crankcase half is completely different. Appears there is no way to make the 99 components match up to the 98 block. Thanks for the feedback.
