I don't have a problem with the 25.00 permit fee but to put a tax on the tournament is crazy. Iowa has been charging a 25.00 permit fee for years. Some city owned lakes in Kansas and Missouri charge 100.00 and more depending on the number of boats.

Illinois is being managed by a pack of idiots. Lying to constituents is common place. Hiding taxes and fees is a way of life. Grubbing for every single dollar is the main function of Springfield. Input from fisherman was not wanted. The decision had been made when the subject was first broached. Our only hope is to vote as many of these morons out as we possibly can. It’s really very sad. This once powerful and prosperous State has literally been run into the ground by feckless political hacks. Please, if you live in Illinois do not vote for an incumbent. None of them are worth the trouble they wish to cause, let alone the damage they have already done.

That's just plane stupid and is going to drive tournament fishing under ground

Holding meetings and weigh ins in off site parking lots

Michigan has charged permit fees for some time now but they try the tax thing they will lose all the major events and the revenue that comes with them

I just found out saturday at our last t for the year that our division along with some others will be shut down next year . We don't draw that many boats so the numbers don't work out for the organization to be profitable in the smaller divisions .

The tax is definitely bogus, big time.

We pay $10 a tourney here in NH for club tournaments. Not sure $25 is out of line but a tax on bigger tourneys seems a bit excessive.

Every time I won money in a tournament, I received a 1099 to pay taxes on the "earnings". Adding another tax should be improper, if not illegal. Illinois people need to file a lawsuit.

If IL is anything like MI most of your larger lakes have private or city ramps that we can use and just avoid dealing with the state altogether

If the object is to increase revenue this will backfire on them but I’m guessing the administration is going after another group of people they consider right of center

I’m guessing we will be seeing a lot more IL guys up here next year

The fee is a tax by another name. Further taxing is FUBAR.

That’s what you get in a Blue state… they wanted it.

If anglers got something for the additional fees and taxes, then it might be worth it. Apparently, the only thing anglers get with these new fees and taxes is poorer.

Those Illinois Legislators are seeing all the Big Bucks being made in Tournament Fishing and just want their slice of the pie.

States collect State Income Tax from Professional Athletes that play NFL, NBA, MLB games in their state as well as State Income Tax on Rock Stars and other Performers who take the stage so it isn't like they are just picking on Tournament Fishing.

Professional Bass Fishing has been seriously trying to be considered as a Professional Sport and call it's participants Professional Athletes so Taxing the Tournaments like they do Professional Sports Teams now gives them a legitimate claim.

I know some actors and musicians that went on a Nationwide tour with a Musical after it was done on Broadway they even had to pay income tax to the Cities of Chicago and Detroit as well as to Illinois and Michigan so Bass Tournaments have now arrived on the Big Stage.

$4.00 plus for a gallon of gas didn't slow down Big Time Bass Tournaments and neither will paying Tax to Illinois

We've been paying $5 per boat to the IDNR for years for tournament permits, no big deal.

I think Ky put a tax on entry fees but none of the club tournaments I know pays any attention to it.

Yet another reason to bail out of this state.

NBA or NFL athletes pay income tax in the state in which they reside, not the state in which they play in. The stadium is a business in itself and pays taxes. The team owners pay tax based upon the state the business is domiciled. If a New York team plays a game in Pennsylvania, that NY team is not paying tax in PA for the money they made off the game like tv royalties etc.

professional anglers pay income tax in the state in which they reside. The tournament trail owners pay income tax in the state in which the business is domiciled. The proposal creates an additional tax
