What kind of lumber is recommended? Pressure treated is bad for aluminum so what kind of wood is best

I used 2 X 6 SYP. ( pine ). Then covered it with marine carpet, then put slick strips on.
I use slick strips as many of the lakes I fish you can not power load or use the big motor.

I used pressure treated, but it's covered with Cailber bunk covers. The wood should never contact the aluminum.

I would go one step farther and say "Have a plastic barrier between the wood and the aluminum hull, similar to Slip-Sticks."

It's been said that the chemicals used to treat the wood react with the aluminum. Personally, I think that is treated wood from a decade ago, but you draw your own conclusion.

I used the original black. They do not hold sand so will not scratch the hull, they are very slick so do not unhook bow strap until ready to launch on any inclined ramp. Have them on trailer for my RT198 and on my Sterling.

On my boatlift at lake behind my house I was not absolutely sure 100% about which lumber they used. On the top of the boards right on top of the carpet, I put a plastic gutter I bought at Lowes. It is the large diameter downspout (6 inch I think) and I cut it with a skill saw to fit. Pretty inexpensive peace of mind.

Some pressure treated is ok some is not. I researched this a year or so ago and found a brand that used a chemical that was made for use with aluminum hardware. Luckily my local Lowe’s sold that type of lumber. I am not on my laptop right now. I may still have the data sheet in my downloads folder. You can probably search for the answer. It took me 30 minutes or so to get a definitive answer.

I used cedar. The factory bunks lasted a year and a half and the cedar has been going strong for 5 years now.

Arsenic is no longer used in pressure treatment. When I replaced my boards and added two more, my dealer said that the PT lumber would void my hull warranty.

Replaced the boards on my 2000 1648 Tracker with PT many years ago, haven't noticed any problems. The original boards only lasted 4 or 5 years.
