    2022 AVX 1880 hull thickness - .10" or .125"?

I read conflicting reports of the hull thickness on the 2022 models moving to .125" aluminum from .10. I had a rep tell me that change was only on the AVX 1890 and lager and did not include the 1880. What have y'all heard or confirmed?

I think if Vexus finally made this change they would be quick to advertise this on their website since this is what many people look for when purchasing aa aluminum boat.

Some have said the dealer or Keith himself have told them this but you know how that goes. Don't know about you but I would want to see it in writing.

In all honesty, the 1880s are not the hulls that had reported cracks. Not sure if I ever heard of an 1880 with a crack or broken weld. I am not a welder or engineer but I'm not sure what .025 of an inch is really gonna benefit?
Don't let it deter you from the purchase. These boats are great!

Call Vexus and ask! Get it from the source!

Ive ran the crap out of my 1880 in conditions that I should not of run in. Its still like the day I bought it. Don’t let the negative crap you read on the internet get in your head.

From the time they first came out a lot of post with guys saying.100 was not thick enough.I would not buy a boat with any thing bigger than a 90 hp on it that wasn’t.125 .These bigger boats should probably be .150

    I checked online today
    . The 1980, 1980cc, 2080, and 2180cc all show the hull at .125.

I could not find where it states that on their website. I must be blind along with old and ugly.

When you select the AVX1980 or above models, scroll down to FEATURES AND ADVANTAGES then select PERFORMANCE AND ENGINEERING tab. Here is a link to the 1980 overview to help out,

I always thought thicker hulls are only needed if you are river jetting it? Around here there are a few custom river boat builders. They all use .125 cause you will be running shallow and sliding over rocks at times. But if you are running in a lake it isn’t necessary? All my buddies have tin boats and none have ever had issues. These are guys I fish with weekly for years. Guys that have owned countless boats over the years.

why is a thicker hull needed? I’m just wondering. I’m getting a 181 so isn’t even an option for me but if I went larger I didn’t even bother asking. When I was considering a jet to use on the river also I was asking about the hull thickness.
