    Prop blowout

Was pushing 80 yesterday in my Eyra when the prop blew out. I guess it was a mild one as I never lost control. Was surprised as I have been over 80 several times in this rig and that has never happened. Only thing I can think is maybe over trimmed?

That’s not blow out, it may be something else and even over engine height. You were way below blowout.

Is it possible I have a damaged spot on the pad that could cause enough turbulence to blowout ?
My prop did suddenly lose thrust for some reason.

Not from airing the case, unless the case has damages. It’s possible a propeller issue, engine height or other.

Possibly you’re starting to spin your prop hub? Just a guess

BCB was pointing more to case blow out which happens around 85-86mph.
My guess is you raised the JP a bit to high and the prop lost bite.
    Glad you didn’t spin it.
Check your prop for any inconsistencies.
Otherwise, keep the JP a little lower at upper speeds.

He was pushing 80 which would not stress a TM lower so this was not case blow out / airing, the case is good to 85 according to mercury racing and not recommended above that speed. It would help to solve that issue if we knew what prop he was running and how high he had his jackplate. Unless he has some damage to the prop or lower unit, it was most likely driver error....over trim....raised the engine to high...could have hit a patch of weeds....I have seen plastic bags wreck havoc..... In other words, something was wrong because the Eyra just touching 80 should never be blowing out. They are stable into the mid 80's and very drivable to 90.

I would also lean towards a motor height/trim issue. I repowered my Sabre in 2011 from a 150 EFI with a Tempest+ to a 175 Pro XS and a Fury three blade. I set my PTP the same as the previous motor without knowing the Fury liked to run deeper than the Tempest. After swapping ends rapidly on a corner at 50 MPH, I lowered the motor.

Elwood is the resident high-speed Eyra expert, and he can definitely point you in the right direction.
