Where did you find the specs. I’ve been looking. I’ve been told
this motor on this boat should run in 70’s. Do you think this is possible ?

How much lift are you getting when wot? Is the bow flying with water breaking behind you or are you running flat with the water breaking out the sides?

Operating range for that motor is 5000-6000 RPM, horse power is rated at 5500. I like to prop them for 5850. I have a 20'1" Champion and turn a 25P Tempest plus right at 71 @ 5850 RPM. Before switching to the Tempest I turned a 24 P Raker at 5850 at 69 MPH. 3.25" below pad.
RPM specs are out of the service manual.

All the water is completely behind me.

Champion; do you think the 26p is too much and I need to
    go down to a 25p ?

If you drop a pitch you'll pick up ~200 RPM.

new power pack and new stator installed. raised ptp and settled on the following:

    Johnny 225 HO w/ carbs
    1.86 gear ratio
    Raker 26 (unworked )
    2.5 below pad
    5700-5800 RPM
    69.5 gps top speed
    1/2 tank gas
    25+ water pressure

not sure if I can get any more from the setup
