    My little bit of history...

Not sure how many have one of these. Crossing the equator and the international date line simultaneously. If you look at the date, we did it on the 200th birthday of the Corps...

Neat, need to frame it and hang it on the wall as a conversation piece. I have the Arctic Circle paper somewhere. Think your math is a year off—“Back in 1775…….” You know the rest.

Born in 1775, 1776 would be the first birthday... 1976 would be the 200th.

I was on the CAG2 in 1960 golden shellback and order of Magelan. I understand they don't do the initiation anymore a bunch of snowflakes running the show!

19th of March, 1969 is a day of he!! for us polywogs to become golden shellbacks. Even our Captain had to go through the initiation which I think made it worse.

Three equator crossings (1st crossing I was initiated and the second two I got to initiate the polywogs), 2 Blue Nose ceremonies Crossing the Arctic Circle (GAWD it was cold running around on the flight deck in skivvies and tennis shoes), been thru the Suez and Panama Canals. Ah to good ole days........
