    New older boat

I'm looking at maybe buying a 1986 stratos 179v. It's in good shape. Needs carpet replaced. Has the suzuki 150 motor. Says it runs great. He's selling for under 1000. Was wonderin how good of a motor it is. Any thoughts?

Do some research into parts for that motor. The transom and stringers are wood in that boat, check for rot and soft spots. If nothing else the trailer is worth at least half that price.

That's not the true 179V. It's the fish & Ski model. Same hull but different layout. I ran a 179V with 150 Suzuki for many years. It was a very good performing boat. Like others have stated check the transom! Parts are impossible to find for 2 stroke Suzuki's so for that price you could probably part out the engine and be ok.

Really didn't pay much attend to the Pic.
But thinking back they did make a 179V in the ski model.
Or was it the bigger 189V or the 181 model. It had flipping deck. Going to look back thru some paper work.

Yep in 1986 they made a 179 FS and a 189FS boats , they also came with the new 180VT and 200 VT boats . Which was tunnel hulls .
They also made a 180 and 200 VT Ski boats all while Earl was there .
