    Batter Up

Finishing up with Physical Therapy after two hip repair surgeries over the last 12 months.
Today in my pt, he handed me a golf club and said lets hit a few.
He gave me the foam balls and I pounded 25+ into the padded wall.
First time to swing in 12 months.
After losing something you love it is really nice to get it back!
I will get my first 18 this week is my goal.

Thanks. I think my recovery is about 90% complete. Good stability and strength.
Only the single leg excercises give me some trouble with balance but by the second set I usually have it down.
    I will keep working.

I have been doing a lot of core strengthening excercises and rotational work. So the swing movement has been improved.
I can’t wait to go to the range today and putt and chip.
    Big day for me!

    It got delayed a bit.
Saw a window of opportunity and took off to Lake Fork this morning.
On the water by 1:30 with very little wind and got skunked.
Saw lots of bait and several large schools of fish cashing around them probably white bass or crappie.
    Couldn’t get a single bite.
Hips are. Little sore today after 4 hour drive and Friday workout.
I will hit the range on Wednesday when I am back home and the wind will make it feel normal for me.
I hope to rip some lips tomorrow!

Apparently I have brain blockage on golf practice.
Yesterday was supposed to be windy big time.
But the morning was calm and sunny.
So finished my workout and dressed to head to the club.
Friend called and I talked with him as I gathered up to head out.
Kept talking with him till halfway there.
Got there and greeted the worker at the guard gate and visited about long time no see.
Went to the parking lot and remembered the wife had brought my sticks home two weeks ago so I could hit a few at a nearby course!
    Damn!
So I turned around and headed the 25 miles back to the house.
5 miles from home the clouds swooped in, wind gusted to 35+, temp dropped 10 degrees and the nice day was long gone.
I took this as a “sign” that I was not supposed to be hitting golf balls that day!
We will try and get out again soon!

Made it to the course yesterday with two grandsons.
Oldest and I went to the range where my early work indicated I have a lot of work to regain my swing.
Balance and flexibility are not anywhere near the point more than a year ago when I was playing 4 times a week.
But I progressed through a few clubs then chipped with pretty good touch. Putted a little and then the two of us were off.
Younger grandson only brought 2 fishing rods and was long gone to the ponds.
We played 7 holes. I hit most fairways and hit 3 greens in regulation. No birdies and only one par as I 3 putted the other two. Last two holes with a driver I smacked the ball as far as I usually hit it so that was pleasing and a good way to finish. Swing muscles just feel a little different and not quite right yet. But I will get there.
Younger grandson pulls up with a grin on his face and shares that he caught a 4 pound bass! His biggest of the year. Group of golfers watched him fight it and came over to take his picture!
All in all a good day with both of them. Nice to be on a golf course and outdoors again. I have missed it. It was good to be back!
