    Fogging Oil Alternatives

Hey guys, my local dealer(s) are all out of the Yamaha fogging oil and I'm ready to store the boat here before the weather gets nasty. The guy at the parts counter told me just I use the fogging spray, wondering what I should do here. Gonna be changing oil, lower gear oil and I was hoping to fogg.

    Thx

I believe fogging oil is just for rust prevention. I would imagine that any fogging oil will get the job done and smoke out your driveway in the spring

On an Opti you have to use regular DFI oil, when I had an Opti I would just shoot in in with a big syringe like you use to inject a turkey. I'm sure you could use that instead of fogging oil on just about any motor.

But also any fogging oil will work fine, doesn't have to be Yamaha.

Yeah on the Mercs yah just squirt some oil in each cylinder, turn 'er over a couple times and done. Coated the inside of the cylinder.

That never crossed my mind, but I do like that idea.

If it has carbs, sure, but I think Yamaha recommends not sending any fogging oil through injectors.

Since you were asking about fogging oil i assumed you had a carb motor. I would have to ask, is it even recommended to put oil in the cylinders.
