It seems like the image detail is better as the subject is closer to the transducer. Maybe the size of the coverage at different ranges accounts for that. This image seems to show that.

Yeah, that does seem to be the case on many early images and videos I've seen. All three live units seem to get more "jagged" as distance increases but it seems to be a little more pronounced on the Mega Live.
