Stator good?

Well, I had intermittant issues over the summer. seemed to be down on power. Checked spark and found what I think is weak spark. pic attatched. Looks orange/red to me?
This fall, boat ran as good as I expect now thats its cold out. Figured it was the heat and humidity? was down 4-500 RPM.
Just Checked stator and found some melted insulation......is it on its way out? replace? pic attatched.

When mine did that it still tested good, but I replaced it. The new one failed shortly after install, but I kept the old one as a spare and it kept me going until warranty covered the new replacement.
