Can crankbait KO blanks be fished they way the are or do you need to clear/seal them first?

Raw blanks need clear, But not if the KO are already painted and cleared.

I'm curious as to why raw blanks would need clear.

Seal up the line tie and hook hangers. You can fish one unsealed but it'll get water in it...ask me how I know

Ok thanks. That's what I was thinking. I've painted and cleared a few myself and I've had to seal some of the seams with plast-l-weld. I've not tried fishing one unpainted or uncleared before.
