    BIG YAMMY PARTS DELIVERY 2021?

My 2015 under warranty new powerhead was due at dealer here Oct 21...today is Nov 29...
called dealer SUNRISE MARINE in East Palatka last week, has no clue as to delivery date yet.

Anyone help me call or e mail someone at Yamaha that would know or is it just on a ship anchored off California coast?

I would guess that your chance of being able to find out something definitive is somewhat below slim to none.

There are tens if not hundreds of ships now lined up off the coast of Kalafornia. The backlog has not peaked yet I don't think.

However, call Yamaha customer support at and see what they have to say. Good luck. https://yamahaoutboards.com/en-us/

For the most part Skeeter is getting most if not all of the motors at this time.

Other boat builders would also be at the head of the line. Then some dealers perhaps.

Major bummer....at my age not many bass years left...every week is gone forever...need 4 more trophy bass to make 10...already missed 4 club events...am in 4 clubs...
the tiny bit of optimism was dealer said the other powerhead they ordered about Oct 1st arrived couple days ago...making it about 6 weeks or so to arrive.

Due Oct 21....now Nov14: no word no powerhead... 1st go to all boat makers then to all pros then to the regular guys....
may have to get a new rig to get a new engine because it seems no new engines will last on the showroom floors...probably gone by now even...
111 ships waiting off the Calif. shore as of 11/14/21...truckers now MUST be union I am reading by a new Calif LAW...so many are simply making a living elsewhere...

The other thing that I heard is backing up engine/parts on the ships in California is the truck emission laws that took affect either late 2020 or early this year in that goofy state. I was told trucks older than 3 years old are not allowed to operate there due to emission standards California set. That would probably force most independent truckers from not operating there. I dont know if that is true or not but it would not surprise me with what that state comes up with. Not to put a damper on the SHO but I know 3 people that have them and love them but lost power heads with about 250 to 300 hrs on them. My friend who lives on Toledo Bend had to buy a Mercury this year because he could not get a power head. If I had one and could buy the extra warranty I would. Maybe not so on the newer SHO's. I have the F series with 287 hrs on it and have only changed the spark plugs once since 2012.

I hear you...2016 SHO powerhead has been due since Oct 21...now Nov19...news awful...toxic California political policies....heard some companies sending ships to Tx/La/ area and getting them unloaded much much faster... local dealer said was clueless...
only hints of help are some impellers dealer ordered...was told not till March...came in this week! They revise dates backwards or forwards its so goofy.

My small dealer had a few new Skeeters that vanished, no engines in showroom either...vanished...so eliminated 2 of 3 solutions for me...
Local veteran bass guy in dept store today heard "Yamaha suddenly has a lot more coming our way"... who knows? maybe logjam easing? They must get engines to Kilgore/Skeeter first then pros then biggest dealers then then then...

I sincerely hope someone on BBC with high up Yamaha info tosses us a bone of hope soon...
or at least a short weekly BBC report on this national issue...one way or the other...
(My warranty ends Feb 18 and I fully expect it extended by Yamaha from the time after Oct 21 due date until installed!!!)

It’s a global (as in worldwide) supply chain crisis. Joe Biden / Newsome did not create it - nor could they or could any single politician or party.

But enough politics ... Hope you all get your parts soon.

How did you come to have that expectation?

***Results have causes in the real world***
The IMHO facts am reading: California has a new must be union trucker thing...Calif has a law no trucks over 3 years old thing.
if anyone has solid info these are not true... let us all know NOW...making general statements w/o any real reasons is saying nothing. Am reading some ships are going to Tx/Louisiana to unload.

(Oct 21 was my expected date for dealer here said Yamaha...its now Nov29th...not here)

(Expectation: BTW, I paid for a 6 years warranty...not a warranty with 3-4-5-6 months taken off due to Yamaha's for whatever reason failure to meet their shipping arrival date...by months...
its simply good behavior expected from good companies by an owner of at least 6 rigs with Yamaha on the back)

Research on powerheads: the SHO 2012-2015 had the issue at 500-700 hours and all were replaced under warranty...my 2015 225 engine had about 575 hours...

Dec1:…. Billions of dollars in cargo delayed.
93 container ships stuck off the California coast . That’s the reality of the supply chain crisis. But recent photos tell a different story, showing less-congested harbors.
“The new queuing system…sharply [reduces] the number of (insert - VISIBLE) container vessels waiting just offshore of Los Angeles/Long Beach,
with the stated goal of cutting harmful emissions and enhancing safety during the winter months by spacing out the ships,” American Shipper reports.

As of this year, 2021, only trucks with engines older than 2005 (2006?) would have their DMV registration denied. So any truck with a 2007 or newer engine is currently in compliance with the DMV regulations. Most trucks at major California ports including the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach are already in compliance with a rule that requires trucks to have newer engines.

A law that would eliminate the owner-operator trucking faces a court challenge and isn't yet in effect.

So in short: manufacturing & shipping delays + huge post Pandemic demand + gov subsidies keeping people from working ==== sh*t times for people waiting for stuff.

    You nailed it!
Have not made a cast since Oct 3rd and its Dec 6th....in 40 years never off the bass chase anywhere near that long...in 3 states...70 plus here in Florida with pre-spawn any day...
Actually looked at Nitro rig via Bass Pro today online/200 Merc Z9...after 7 straight Yamaha rigs ...turning 75 this month with maybe 5 more years of health to fish all day alone or compete alone in my clubs... may be the only out...
not sure Mercury key parts are all "made in USA"...does anyone know?
What do dealers do when key parts are 4-6 months (as a good guess) to get??? Send all boats to owner and call?
Sort of the ultimate boat nitemare...and I cannot be the only one waiting on a lower unit or powerhead plus dozen other key parts...

You are certainly not the only one. On other forums there are many in the same situation.

    from Dec 6 web search:

"Yamaha’s plans to stabilize are gaining traction, and it hopes to be back to a normal delivery pace by the end of 2021.
When asked if parts are also hard to come by, the unfortunate answer is yes.
Slapped with wait times for new engines, more customers are bringing in older outboards for repairs, so those chains are also stressed."

Update Dec 8: after 7-8 Skeeter YAHAMA rigs I am off to buy another brand boat w/Merc which IS ON THE LOT as a 2022!!!

Blown powerhead has reduced my ZX225 trade in a TON... now Yamaha says it will not transfer WARRANTY coverage of powerhead to this other dealer
so I can get $10k more trade they offer with the warranty transfer.... this is an outrage.
Yamaha delivery date was Oct21.... not fished since Oct 3 here in Fla...
am also trying to get a 2021/2022 Merc on the back as a swap out on my Skeeter and that is tough tough tough.
If anyone knows of a 200/225 Merc at any Fla/Ga dealer please e mail me at reelman206@gmail.com
Does anyone know when 2022 Skeeters are arriving in N. Florida showrooms?

Over 40 years and this is the worst...thanks Brandon...you "talking the talk" solved zero this month!

I am not understanding this. The warranty stays with the motor. Does not matter who owns it.

If you are the owner and you need a warranty repair, you get it. If the next owner needs a warranty repair then he will get it.

Who told you that the warranty is not transferable.

    Me neither!
Dealer B Waylen Bay in St Augustine, Fla says Yamaha told him 'they will not transfer warranty from Dealer A Sunrise Marine in East Palatka, Fl'....then "technically no guarantee its free/covered until AFTER they inspect the old p-head...what?
dealer A sent you pictures requested and YAMAHA approved the warranty in October...then notified dealer A is was due Oct 21....(not sure what year now though)

IF ANYONE HAS STRONG YAMAHA CONTACTS. reelman2016@gmail.com ASAP ...because plans are to ditch Yamaha 4ever after so many rigs and years!!!
