    Chick - Hiwassee off limits?

    Is it still 11/15 when the Hiwassee goes off limits? Looks like most years it is the 15th, but can't find anything for this year.

    Why does it go off limits? And is it the whole lake or just parts of it?

    The Hiwassee Refuge (see post 2) is off limits, if I remember correctly, you can drive a boat up the Hiwassee River side of "Chick" but can't get out of the channel without violating the off limits and subject to fine if TWRA gets you.

    Yes sir it's a migratory area for birds, you can pass through the area and even fish the area but you have to stay between the buoys. They pop several people every year, not sure how much but I'm sure it isn't cheap.
