    USAA Insurance sucks.

Just putting this out there so if one gets into a not at fault accident when the other guy has USAA. My grand daughter got struck in the rear on the interstate while stuck in stop and go traffic. Her brand new Honda took a good lick in the rear end. The other driver has USAA and it was a nightmare working with them. The other driver did get a ticket. Filed a claim and they called three days later and advised us to use our insurance for the repair, not. Then they said they didn't get a statement from their client. He did file a claim though. Then they wouldn't return any calls. Locked her out of the on line service. Assigned her three adjusters that had different stories. They all kept asking her to use her insurance and they would get reimbursed from USAA, not. Then they called and said they weren't allowed on the property of the towing company to use her insurance to have the car moved, lie. Called the wrecker service and they said not true. Then they said they couldn't get the police report, lie, we got copies from the state police website. They did everything to try to get my gran daughter to use her insurance. According to her agent that could be done but it would raise her rates. She said that USAA is the most difficult to deal with. If we did go that way it could take years for USAA to reimburse. Today, one week after the accident they call and again try to get her to use her insurance. She told them that no way she was doing that. One hour later they call her back and told her the rental car has been reserved for her and the car is going to be fixed and the place of her choice. Unbelievable, what a dirt bag company.

C130 has a thread in the lounge that also makes me doubt USAA. My insurance was less at State Farm when I put everything with them and I have a local agent.

USAA just continues to decline year after year. I work with a lot of veterans and it seems like a lot of people are leaving USAA after many, many years. I just flew with a guy today that switched a few months ago after many years, 20 plus. I’ve never had a claim on any of our automobiles in about 25 years that was our fault and the one and only prior claim they did nothing to get my $1,000 deductible back I had to pay. My mother and father in law have been with them forever and they just had a homeowners claim and they are not happy at all, said they’ve been nothing but a pain. They were once a great company but have become like way too many others today, they are no longer about great customer service.

I had a similar experience several years ago, I had State Farm myself and tried to do everything myself, but after a week I called them with the name of a lawyer and said you can either fix my car or pay to fix my car, plus everything else my lawyer can come up with. I just want the truck bumper fixed. Everything else is just free money. Strangely enough they wanted to settle with me. If their corporate office was on fire I wouldn't take the time to dial 911. They're thieves.

In the 80's and 90's when my wife and I were both Active Duty NCOs, USAA would not talk to us low life enlisted folk - only commissioned officers. We weren't good enough for the prima donna scum until they figured out they could make a lot more money if they serviced us "common folk"..

    USAA can kiss my A$$....

I still use USAA homeowners but I have come to know that there are better deals out there. I did use them for a storm damaged roof a few years ago and the process was pretty painless. No complaints.

Same experience here...One of their drivers hit my car, USAA declared equal fault and I thought that was the end of it, then they filed against my Insurance claiming 100% my fault...If you ever get hit by one of their drivers, get a Lawyer quick!!!

I feel like USAA is somewhat predatory in their marketing to vets. They imply that somehow they are an earned benefit to veterans when in fact, they limit insurance to vets by choice as a marketing method. Starting out, the company was a great thing. It provided insurance to military officers as a self-insuring shared risk group because other insurance companies considered them high risk clients. That is long in the past. Having spent my career in the DoD and around many military bases of all services, I always cringe when I see any business marketing to the military or vets. Not because that’s a bad thing, but because I always am reminded of the many “buy here, pay here” car dealers, payday loan operations and pawn shops that surround military bases.

I was exposed to AAFMAA at the SGM Academy back in 2009. They've been good to me every since. I have life insurance through them.

Me too. Lots of claims over the last 30+ years with homeowners and car accidents. Rates have not changed dramatically. Three years ago, my son rear ended a classmate of his and USAA took care of the classmate. I knew the parents but not too well. I called several times to make sure USAA was taking care of them and they said they were not having any problems. When it was all over, they said USAA was great to deal with the entire time.

I primarily did all of my banking and insurance through USAA for the longest time until recently. I once used their renters insurance and had a claim since the hot water heater in the unit above mine flooded and I had water pouring down into my living room and ruined my laptop and furniture. Later on when I tried getting a homeowners insurance, USAAs quote was $500 per year since I had a claim with their renters insurance. When I called USAA and asked about why the higher premium, was told they were unable to recoup their losses when I had a claim from when I was renting.

Another issue I’ve had with them lately is getting them to match auto loan rates to Navy Federal, therefore I got a better rate with someone else. Plus I tried to see if they were willing to refinance my home loan due to lower interest rates and they refused to work with me and seemed like they just didn’t want to deal with it. Anymore, I’m pretty much done with USAA going forward and move everything to Navy Federal or a local bank.

They gave me a quote and it was very much higher than my present insurance.

25 years with USAA and went to State Farm last year. Saving 2600 a year with car and home with max coverage. You have to bundle to save.

Sorry that you guys have had bad experiences. I’ve had USAA insurance since 1983 and have NEVER had a bad experience. They have taken great care of our family (adult sons have USAA also) after hurricanes, car flips, hit and runs, and both accidents and thefts while stationed overseas. Just a few months ago a VBFD vehicle clipped my truck at a boat ramp. USAA fixed my vehicle and refunded my deductible weeks before they got reimbursed by the city.

I had them for several years and had a claim. I never had a problem. I got my bank account hacked and they said it was my fault and the barred me for life. I'm still a member, but that is it. I switched to Geico. Last year I was creamed by a semi in my brand new truck. The trucking company refused to communicate with me. They got me a rental for a month but that was it. I used my insurance and got a new truck. My rates never raised due to it not being my fault. It took 15 months for the trucking company's insurance to pay that truck off.
