I recently went through a Plano 3600 jig box from the rear box on my kayak and saw about 15-20 jigs that were rusted- some slightly, and some very bad! I'm in the process of salvaging those that aren't too bad with a CLR bath and light sanding and sharpening and transfer to an Plano Edge box but I wanted to make sure this doesn't happen again. I ordered a bag of 100 small desiccant packets from Amazon that are supposed to be "rechargeable" in a microwave, but I wondered if anyone else tried throwing several of these packets into their boxes to absorb the moisture? What can I put on the hooks to help them be protected- a coating or such that doesn't deteriorate the skirts. I think I'll lose about a third of the rusted jigs due to their points being rusted away, but I was able to get some "sticky sharp" with a good fine grain hook file.
