    Ranger repower question

    2004 Ranger 620 - rated for 225
    I'm wanting to hang a Suzuki 250ss on the back but it has a USCG rating sticker with 225 max. Exact same hull is rated for 250 in 06. New 4 stroke is 100 lbs heavier then the older 225 2 stroke.
    I've saved weight by switching to lithium batteries for trolling motor (42 lbs vs 205 lbs). I thought the old rule was if a boat was 20' or larger, there was no real hp limit? But sticker says otherwise... I'm gonna contact insurance guy tomorrow and ask him same question, just wanted some feedback/opinions here. Any thoughts

    Call Ranger and ask if they would get you a new sticker with a 250 rating on it.

    I changed from an optimal 225 to a optimal 250. Aside from guzzling a lot more fuel and picking up 7mph.... it was no diffrent. Hind site I should have stuck with 225
