    Your opinion of image, walleye?

Image taken in 2020 in Caney Fork River, TN. Helix 12 Mega si/di.
Looking for walleye staging to spawn.
Would like your opinion of this image.
I was not successful in catching anything.

Hard to say on the fish. They are definitely hugging the bottom but could also be carp or other bottom hugging fish.

By the way, I think you have an artificial "ridge" on the bottom transition of the right side of the image. I had a similar situation and found that I could get a much better and more accurate representation of the bottom transition with a change to the Noise Filter settings in the CHIRP Sonar settings on my Solix. Sounds strange but it made a big difference on how the bottom looked in my case. I never could figure out why even flat bottoms showed this constant "ridge". By the way, the noise filter settings are not progressive. Each one has a different impact to the image quality so you need to try each setting. You may want to give it a try next time you are out.

Thanks for the input, don't know the species since I did not catch one. I have other screenshots of lots more fish in this area. The time of year and the location I was at had me hopeful for walleye! Always a bass fisherman, caught some good smallmouth this day but walleye is on my bucket list.

I'm going to say not walleye. I would say the returns are generally too thick and long for how far from the transducer they are to be walleye. Unless they're all over 10 pounds.

could easily be walleye. This was a school of walleye. I caught a few off the bunch with this 11.5# being the biggest.
