    Setup advice, 2005 201 Pro XL + 2010 Yahama SHO 250

Hi all. I just acquired a 2005 Stratos 201 Pro XL with a 2010 Yamaha SHO 250 that has a new-ish powerhead as of 2018. It has an 8" Atlas Hydraulic plate, 10 foot PP blades.

It came with two props, both T-1s. A 25 and a 27. Both have the vent holds welded closed.

I have only run it for a quick test when purchasing and have some work to do on it before I can take it out. I'm curious if anyone here has experience with a similar setup, any props / setups they loved. Thx in advance.

Measure pitch to pad height PTP,
Start at 3.5 below pad. Write down rpms, water pressure, & speed. Raise jackplate in 1/4" increments and evaluate beginning numbers. I'm running same year with 05 yamaha ox66 at 2.75" below pad. 5700 rpms, 15 psi water pressure

Thanks Javelin90. What prop are you running, and what kind of performance numbers are you getting?

I am running a fury 4 blade prop. Another member on here had same boat, motor, poles and setup as I do and is the reason I switched from a 3 blade 27" Yamaha T-1 to the 4 blade. Better handling in rough water.

The 25T1 should be your best prop.
27 may be ok on top end, but the holeshot with poles is prolly gonna be really slow. Should be able to turn it right at 6000 at 3” below. It may need to be a little lower depending on your load.

Thanks Javelin. What pitch is your Fury? I happen to have a 24-pitch 4 blade fury that is in pristine condition, and it was PERFECT on my last boat (a stratos 200 pro xl). I'm hoping it isn't too low a pitch for this boat but concerned it might be.

As Russ mentioned, I prefer T-1 27" yamaha prop but for me the poles and extra weight I find better holeshot using the 4-blade fury.
