    Entering Waypoints manually using Coordinates

Can someone please walk me through entering Waypoints manually using Coordinates on a Helix 12 Gn2. Thanks in advance.

The easiest direct with the unit is to MARK a waypoint anywhere on the Chart View, just push the MARK button. Then move the curser to the waypoint and push Menu and then Edit the waypoint co-ordinates. Change the icon if you want also.

The format you have has to match the unit format setting. Default is DD.DDDDD
If yours doesn't match, go to the Setup menu Position Format and change the format to what you have.
The other two GPS formats are DD.MM.MM and DD MM SS

The overall easy way to add waypoints is to create them in HumminbirdPC and copy the file to a memory card to load all of them to the unit at once. Still have to match the Format. You can change the HBPC format also to match your format.

If someone gives you waypoints can you manually enter them in the unit vs doing it online to a memory card?

That is what post #2 describes.

Post 3# is not on line, HumminbirdPC is a free software download for your PC (if you have one) that lets you use a keyboard to create the waypoints. After you do a few of the ones directly on the unit, you may opt for a keyboard.
If you had a SOLIX, it has a keyboard menu to type the numbers when editing.

First of all, regardless of how you approach this, do a backup of your helix data before making any changes. After you mess something up, having a fall back plan comes in quite handy.

HumminbirdPC allows you to create new waypoints into a gpx file. You then upload that file to an SD card and then you import from the SD card into the Helix. If you have many to do, this is probably the easiest because you can use the keyboard to enter all the data. Knowing the basics of HumminbirdPC would be very helpful here.

If you have a text file with multiple waypoints layed out in it, this site:
    https://www.gpsvisualizer.com/convert_input
can convert it to a gpx file which you can open in HumminbirdPC and then upload to SD and then to Helix, as above. You'll need to get the text file formatted properly for this to work and will probably take some trial and error.

You can also manually enter them at the unit itself.
See this.. It's a little old but the menu options should be pretty much the same. He creates one manually at about the 3:20 minute mark.

Except this doesn’t work with Solix units, correct?

Yes you can do the co-ordinates the same way. It's the icons that don't stay the same from HumminbirdPC to SOLIX.

If course the menus are different, but the technique is the same.

The SOLIX has a keyboard to do the editing.

Unless it has changed, you lose groups going from Solix to HBPC and back. We only fish one lake, I decided we didn't really need groups and haven't looked at it again.
