Fished Sunday for the first time in a few weeks. Needed one of those days where you just have fun and catch fish. Grabbed the crappie rods instead and caught dinner. One of my more fun fishing days of the year..

If you like cod/haddock you will like Crappie .. nice white fish that’s not really even fishy tasting .. easy to clean too

that surprises me as long as you have been fishing. crappie is a mild white flaky fish you will like for sure.

Managed to get about 6 hours on Eastman Lake yesterday. Air temp was 38 and zero wind. I got a couple on the spinnerbait but they never made it to the boat. James landed a few smallies on the dropshot. I finally gave the dropshot a try. After a few misses, I finally figured out the hookset after James coached me. I had a blast. I lost count after 10 solid keepers. James had a few more than me. I landed a few smallies but mostly largemouths. Water temp was 47? Winds picked up and things got slower. Running out of days.

Put the boat in at Gregg for a couple of hours on Saturday - mostly to get some time on the new L/U and square away some tackle, but I did fish offshore structure for 30 minutes or so. Perfect score: not hits, runs or errors. Water temp was 45.

Took it to Clement Sunday for 2-3 hours, right up to sundown. Started with a blade bait, then tied on a Cutter in perch. Caught two on the first two casts, then picked up another four over the last 30 minutes. That spot is a little grass flat in about 13' with a steep, rocky outside drop and a fringe of lily pads in. The bites were in 8' or less. Water temp 49.

I'm still at it and plan to be well into January again if the weather cooperates. Just making a lot of loooong drives to bigger deeper lakes. Lot of spots in Vermont, will be going down to Candlewood a time or two here in the next couple of weeks, then will likely wrap up the season down in the Cape area for the ponds down there that stay open year round, like Mashpee and whatnot.

Spent about 7 hours on Mascoma on Sunday. Water temp was about 43ish most of the day. a very slight breeze to start the day and then it was calm for a few hours. The clouds at the beginning turned over to sunshine. At about 2:30 the sun got behind clouds and the winds picked up. The fishing was pretty much consistent all day. We got a bunch of smallies and a couple largies. Next week's destination has yet to be determined. Someplace local I think.
