Question Garmin map update gone wrong?

Need some help…. I just did a chart update with an SD card via Garmin Express and installed it in my 106 Ultra. Well, now when I’m sitting in the driveway wanting to pan to any lake and get to the 8 mile pan and closer in it turns gray. At the 12 mile pan it shows the lake…. Any ideas???

Was this an update to your built-in mapping? What mapping version is now loaded into the unit? Go to Home, Settings, System, System Info, Software Info.

That's correct.... g3 US Coastal Inland lakes v2021.50 v23.00.... and I just noticed that on my bow graph (102) it shows the same map version as they are networked together, BUT.. I'm able to pan in correctly and it doesn't gray out at 8 mile and below..... I also swap them in the other cradles.... the issue follows the 106...

I called Garmin CS and we tried a couple of things and couldn't get it fixed. I'm waiting to see what they want me to do next.....

Happened to me on the water yesterday (Sunday). I ran the updates to all my devices a 73SV, 93SV, and LiveScope via an SDCard inserted in the 73SV on Saturday. Everything seemed fine at home. Once on the water, the map loaded initially, but as I moved across the lake - about 3 miles to my spot - the map did not fill. After going to the livescope screen and going back to the map, my screen looked like yours only on the 73SV. Funny thin is the 73SV was hosting the map card (LakeVu G3 Ultea East) and the 93SV, connected via network, worked fine.

I powered down the 73SV using its power button several times, but it did not fix anything. I then powered down everything using a master switch that controls power to all my add-on devices (charts, marine network, NMEA2k, USB chargers, hydrowave, etc) and when everything powered back up, it worked perfectly for the rest of the trip. Continued to work fine when I got home and used a stand-alone cradle to edit some waypoints.

    Other info:
    - The updates were loaded directly into the 73SV - so the 73SV was the master and updated itself then all connected devices. I confirmed everything received their updates.
    - I run LakeView G3 Ultra East on an SD Card in the 73SV. The 73SV card is also my Active Captain card. The 93SV has no card inserted and pulls everything from the 73SV.
    - I did not try removing power from just the 73SV versus every device, so I'm not sure if an issue communicating with one of the other devices was the actual issue or if the 73SV just needed a hard reboot.

Considering you swapped cradles, you essentially did a "hard reboot" already, so that rules out what worked for me. Have you tried it stand-alone, without any other devices connected to see if one of them is somehow messing with the chart?

That's about the only thing I haven't tried... I did a forced update to the 106 per the Garmin tech's instructions and still didn't fix it... What's weird is I can still see the maps on the 102 that is pulling from the 106 and all the functionality works on the 102... I'll give a try in the am. thanks!!

So if you launch at Carter Cove. How is the best way to get to the river channel?? I assume a hard left to the northern most river loop?????

Before I saw your post - I had posted my work around to a Garmin group on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1664...4899365201479/

Mat - the resident Garmin guru in that group - stated that it's happened to him usually to the device hosting the maps.

Ya, I posted my issue on same group, got no responses.... so hopefully can get back with me... this week is my last fishing tourney/trip, so if I have to ship it back, I'm good with that too....
