    2020 189 trx with 175 four stroke

I’m thinking about purchasing a 2020 189 trx with a 175 4 stroke and 6 inch JP. What kind of numbers can I expect top end and hole shot? Thanks

You did not mention prop and pitch but my guess is that a 22 or 23 P Tempest Plus should get you in the 62-64 mph range.

Your set up and total weight will determine your actual speed. Your holeshot should be very good with a Tempest Plus. You may also consider a Bravo 22P.

The 189 TRX is the same weight, length, and beam as my 18 TRX and I bought the 18 TRX for the 200 h.p. Rating.

I have that rig with a 175 ProXS and an ultrex up front. I have a 22 Tempest Plus at about 2 7/8” PTP. In 85-95 degree temps I get 61-62 mph at about 5720-5750 rpm by myself and empty livewell, holeshot average. With another person and full livewell in those same temps I get 59-60 at 5650-5700 rpm, fair holeshot. In cooler temps I get another mile per hour or so and another 50-100 rpm. I would like to try a 22 Bravo FS, I think that might get more RPM and better low speed performance. A 21 Tempest would definitely improve holeshot and midrange but I wonder how it would affect top speed. I will at least have my 22 Tempest blueprinted this winter.

A 21 Tempest Plus should get you approximately 150-200 more rpms. I believe that your engine will perform better in the 6000 rpm range.
