    Landing Net Recommendations?

    Use in very heavy currents!

Used to land fairly large fish. Stripe Bass (20" and up & 4 lbs and up.), Red Drum (18" and up & 3 lbs and up)

I have a Rubber Net but just to heavy and very difficult to use in the current. But treble hooks do not get tangled up in the webs.
I also use a standard net with the web cords rubber coated. But the treble hooks still get tangled up and takes a great deal of time to untangle the hooks.

Or do I carry both and use the rubber one when using treble hooks and the standard one when using single hook lures?

That one's net looks like it would have the same issues with trebles hooks like my mesh net.

That one has the rubber coated mesh, and treble hooks do foul in it some but no where near what an uncoateded mesh will.

I am a fan of the Ranger blue nets. They are a bit heavier since they are all aluminum, but are very durable for larger fish. I have one large one for trophy cats and a smaller one for bass fishing.

I do like the heavy rubber one as it does not catch the treble hooks and seems much better for the fish. But, it takes two men and a boy to use it in heavy current. My other one is a Ranger with the rubber coated mesh and a GREAT extendable handle. Just when those Big Fish want to spin, the treble hooks just get all sorts of tangled up.

I think I will just carry both. Not a big deal as I fish by myself 90% of the time.

    Thanks guys for the input!

Heavy rubber netting for me, and as cheap as possible since it will more than likely go flying overboard or get broke by a 40 lb carp

I have tried all kinds of nets and keep going back to the standard "oh my God, that can take the slime off of fish" ol nylon nets and generally has the green nylon. They are not hard to handle when in the water as all the newer fancy "safer" nets are. They are cheaper too.
Hey, how's the carpet on your boat deck for rubbing of the slime?
Like most other nets, treble hooks can be a PITA

I use a frabill from basspro and it has served my purposes so far. It has the rubber coated newt but it still fouls from time to time. When I lose this one I will go back into bass pro and buy whatever one looks right to me at the time.

Just do not buy an Ego S2 slider.

I've had two and they break after about 6 months.

longest lasting net you can find would be an RS Net. Then there is everything else...

I can't remember how old mine is, but I can vouch they are fantastic nets that'll handle a 20 pound plus striper.

I'll second that post above. I got the saltwater version, but it looks to be the same just different colors.

How do they work with treble hooks? (That is my issue with those style mesh nets.)

Thanks to n2ratfishin and white gambler for posting about the StowMaster net. I ordered one from Norsemen Outdoors and just received it. It is very well built and is easy to collapse and put into a compartment. The netting seems like it would work well with treble hooks although I have not used it yet.....
