    Networking 3 GPSMap units

Ok, I have searched and haven't found the answer to my exact question - I apologize if its been covered.

I have three GPSMap units: two 1042xsv units and one 742xs unit. I also have Livescope and a Gt52 transducer. My plan is to have one 1042 at the bow, and they other 1042 and the 742 at the helm. Livescope will be connected the the front unit and the transducer will be connected to the 1042 at the helm. I would like to use the 742 for mapping, setting waypoints, etc. The 1042 at the helm will be primarily for sidescanning/downscanning. The 1042 at the bow will be my main Livescope unit. But, I want to be able to share all these features among all three units at times.

I am hoping I can do all of this with the ethernet (Marine Network Cable). I have two ethernet ports on the 1042 units and one ethernet port on the 742. So, here is how I plan to connect them:

    1042 at the bow:
    Port 1: Livescope
Port 2: ethernet to 1042 at helm

    1042 at the helm:
Port 1: ethernet from 1042 at bow
    Port 2: ethernet to 742
    Transducer: sidescan at transom

    742 at the helm:
Port: ethernet to 1042 at helm

I obviously have enough ports to accomplish this. But, is there a problem with the 742 and 1042 at the bow not directly connected? Can the 1042 at the helm act as the connection between the two? Or do I need the GMS10 network port expander for information to be passed freely between all three units?

    Thanks.

If they are all connected via network cable, it doesn't matter the order they are in.
