Sure but you have to tell us how you were performing the procedure.
This is the factory procedure.
1- pump the the primer bulb till firm
2- the step depends on the control type
—-if the surface side mount type, raise the warm up lever about 50%.
— if the concealed side mount, engage the neutral only button and advance the throttle about 50%
3- push and hold in key and rotate key to the start / crank position. Pushing in and holding the key in activates a primer solenoid which injects fuel into the carburetors.
Engine will start and release the key. An additional push to the key will be necessary to inject a little more fuel. Manipulate the throttle up or down to around 1500 rpm for a short warm up period. Then return the throttle to idle.

there are other little tricks depending on the state of the engine, meaning spark plugs, hours, etc. And you can search this site for more information as this have been discussed many times previously.
