Ive had this boat since 1997. My question is What do yall think about the transom on these boats in general? I have taken good care of mine, motor is blown and I am considering repowering to a new 4 stroke. Am I wasting my time thinking my Javelin will be able to handle it? I have no cracking in the transom whatsoever. Just curious if there is any success stories out there of ones still going strong.
Sound it with a small plastic faced hammer. If you hit a soft spot the sound will change. No spider cracking in the Gelcoat around the motor well is another good sign it's sound. Every marine survey I do the hammer is the first tool in my hand.
Tap, tap, tap is good. Thud's are bad as stated above.
