    2011 150 Optimax Alarms

Unfortunately my hydraulic jackplate got stuck up this weekend and I was about a mile from the launch. Made the run back and on the way back I got a continuous alarm and the motor shut off. I would assume this was overheating or lack of pressure because of how high the outboard was? The motor started right back up but I didn't chance it and just trolling motored it back in.

    Any thoughts?

Most likely you are correct but without a Smartcraft device, the ONLY way to know for sure is to have the stored codes read by a mechanic.

Good call on trolling back. Shutting down and restarting the motor never fixes the problem.

Moving your thread to the 2.5L Forum for you.

If you would, please take a moment to review the Announcements at the top of the Forum, and be sure to provide the Required Info (serial number) when posting. Thanks!

Sounds like you're going to need to start at the SOURCE: The Water Pump. Verify likely it was starved for proper cooling media when engine was stuck "up" on the jackplate.

Good idea to confirm faults via a Computer Diagnostic as well.
