    98 ranger 518dvs. 200 opti

What is the best prop for a 518. Running a 25 tempest to 5100 in 80 degree water. Full load 2 normal sized people. 6” plate at 3.5 “ptp 64 gps. Hole shot not to bad but not great. Thx

I used to have that same boat (dual console too), but a 2001. Ran a 01 Opti too. I can't remember if I had a 6" or a 8" Slidemaster installed on it (I'm pretty sure it was a 8"). I had PTP set at 3.25" below the pad. Ran a clean 25" Tempest. It was a solid 68-70mph boat depending on 2 people loaded down vs single and light. Dead of summer it might drop to 67. I was easily turning 5700rpm's too. I can't remember if I was running all 'large' PVS plugs, or 2 'large' and a 'medium' (which is what I think it was).

Sounds like you might be down a cylinder, should be able to spin a 25 to at least 5600. Don't recall which years were worse but some opti's had coil issues.

Ran boat yesterday raised jack plate up a little 3.25 ptp. Still warm down here checked throttle linkage was ok. Turned 5200 by myself at 68 on gps. 25 tempest good clean prop. Others say I should be at 5700. Hole shot could be better. Should I go down to a 24 or 23. What about a trophy or razor maybe a bravo but which one

If you ran 68mph and your tach is reading 5200 while turning that 25" Tempest, I think your motor and setup is probably GTG ...... but your tach may be off. I say that b/c your speeds are pretty much where they need to be for that boat/motor/prop and setup ..... but everybody else's Opti 200 will be turning 5700'ish RPM's to get that number.

Tach is off at least 200 maybe more. Your speed and rpm's should come up as the temperature goes down.

Checked back of tach. Mine was set on 8p. From what I read it should be on 5. My tack only shows 5p so I set it there. Does that sound right
