Anyone who knows a bit about boats has those installed on their trailers. It makes for such a convenient cinch-and-go type application and they are super easy to install.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the replacing the bungee cord rod straps on the deck with the rod buckles. There is a thread in the tin boat section where it has been done.

I put it in on both port and starboard side. They work well but a small downside. There is a 1 inch gap which is a trip hazard if closed and no rods.

I tried all the tie downs but was not completely happy with any so I made a retracting bungee cord mounted in the gunwale. I attached a build sheet in case someone wants a DIY project.

I've got the Transom and Rod Buckles and love them. Because they are so far forward, I don't believe that the 1" they sit from the gunnel is a trip hazard. My rods are strapped at the landing, so if I were to get to the buckle to stumble, I'd have already crushed 8 rods.

YES... it is fairly easy to do. I put mine in the deck floor and not in the gunwales. I got them from Amazon. Tithe template and a air saw it is really a no brained.

Thanks. I got the idea from the Skeeter bungee but they require under deck access to anchor the other end of the cord. I had to figure out a way to anchor the end of the bungee in a blind space.
