I'd like to hear from you if you've come up with a way to fit 3 batteries in a Cobra/Viper Coral. I want to install a 36 volt trolling motor.

My 2000 Viper Coral only had 2 batteries when I bought it, one battery shared by outboard motor and 24 volt trolling motor. I added a battery to isolate the trolling motor from the outboard motor. You probably want 4 batteries, 3 for TM and one for outboard. To do that, you would need to relocate a battery or oil tank to a storage locker. I have attached a photo of my Coral with 3 batteries.

Thanks for the post, and the pic! I assume those are two Group 24 batteries on the passenger side?

Yes they are group 24 AGM batteries for my trolling motor. The battery on the starboard side is a group 27 because a group 31 was too long. This is an old photo. I have a new Northstar AGM, group 27 to provide starting power for my 2 stroke, ProXS 200 and accessories. PM me if you have questions.

I moved the oil tank to the right side and put 2 27's in from the left side and a 24 perpendicular. After upgrading electronics I had to upgrade the main battery to a lithium. Crazy amount of power in the size of a 24. When the tm batteries go I'll upgrade to lithium as well. Not cheap but after having one for the main I appreciate the reliability.

I have a 31 series battery behind the oil tank on the starboard side next to transom. I have two series 27 batteries on port side. I have a plastic board covering my pumps in bottom of boat that is secured with two screws. I used to carry a fourth battery there for black lights for night fishing. I didn't feel it was strong enough to hold that fourth battery all the time. If you replaced that plastic board with an aluminum piece that is re-enforced on the bottom it would work. I've considered doing that myself. I have a buddy that fabricates metal and he said no problem. Does your have the plastic board covering your pumps?

You have a Cobra, not a Coral. Corals have a 40 gallon gas tank in the back at the transom, so there is no way we can fit a 31 and two 27s, let alone a 4th battery. At best, we might be able to fit three 24s. Thanks for trying to help, though.

I have a 2000 coral that has 3 group 31 batteries in the back. The oil tank was moved to one of the storage compartments beside the livewell. The lines run through a hole in the compartment into the battery compartment. That all was done by the original owner. I'm the second owner. I cut and painted a board to fit across the bilge opening (secured with 4 screws) and one of the batteries sit on top of it and other 2 sit on each side.

I thought about that, too, but I'm not willing to sacrifice a storage bin. I'm going to stick with a 24 volt system, for now, until Lithium batteries come way down.
