Buddy of mine caught a couple giant stripers on a jig the day after the big rains doing that. Caught them pretty much back to back so assuming it was a similar spot as what you found.
I found them back in 76 falls like that years ago. Threw a squarebill back there and he hit coming at the boat so fast i couldnt catch up to him. Landed him and all i could see was the bill and front of the bait sticking out of its throat. Wound up catching 4 right under the falls before they quit biting
They aint got hands, set the hook
