Anyone fished Dale the last week or two?

I have a cabin rented at Mitchell for 4 days starting Sunday. I have a friend in Cookeville telling me guys are catching lots of crappie right now. I’m going to be looking for them through the day. I want to try to catch flatheads in the evening and night. Getting pumped and excited to go.

I haven’t been on Dale in a couple months. Have any of you been recently?

I've lived in TN for about 7 years and still haven't been to Dale. I've driven over there once just to look around but that's it. I hope you have a great time over there. If you get a chance when you return maybe let us know how the crappie bite. Good luck.

The next couple months are the best time. If you can make it go. I will report back with how we do. Early October can be real hit or miss.

Quick update as we are home. Fishing was OK but tough. The weather didn’t help anything. I caught around 25 crappie with 15 being keepers. All fish came around submerged timber with the fish holding in 15’-18’ of water. Crappie magnets either vertical jigged or slowly retrieved once at depth seemed to do the trick. Smallmouth were hard to come by but my son managed a new personal best at 18”. Came in 12’ of water on a spinner bait. Creeks were loaded with shad everywhere. Fishing should only get better from here.
