I was reading an article on this earlier. Seems like a good way to target gills in deeper water. You could possibly even rig up a small float near the hook to keep your bait off the bottom 6-10”.

I’ve used floating jig heads in a similar setup.
If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity,
nothing else matters.
