    Norris Craft help/information needed

Hello all, one of the boats I am presently considering buying is a 1987 Norris Craft 1600 XLV with a Mercury 115 on it. I’ve read about the XLV hulls riding rough & the potential for chime walking at speed. How rough is a rough ride? Are we talking getting neck snap over 6” swells at 45 mph? The chime walking, is a 16’er with a 115 going to go fast enough to worry about that? I am a very inexperienced boat driver, maybe 4-5 hours driving a 20 foot pleasure boat at around 30-35 mph. Please chime in with any and all advice that may keep me alive & in one piece. Thanks.

It is chine and I seriously doubt anything with a 115 will be fast enough to even consider chine walking.

Many years ago I put a 115 "tower of power" on a 15 foot and it would try to "walk" at half throttle. Really good hole shot tho !

Back in "the day" when you could do what you wanted to (within some limits) I put a 150 "tower of power" on my 15 foot Terry. It was a handfull !!!! to drive !
