So, what did you pay for your boat?

Taking off of the other “Boat Prices” thread, what did you pay for your boat, and what’s the back story?

My boat is a 2004 Ranger Comanche 195VX with an Opti 200. The original owner took possession of it on December 31, 2003, and I bought it off him on May 12, 2005. He paid $36,000 for it, and I paid $28,000. It’s been a fantastic boat—not one single issue.

    That’s my story, what’s yours?

I bought an older 87 Ranger 373v back in 2006ish for $7500.00. Almost perfect condition as it had been garaged by the 2nd owner since almost new.
I also store it indoors since I’ve had it.
Shes got some bumps and bruises on her but it runs excellent and I’ve kept up on the maintenance.
Added some upgrades over the last few years as well.
New steering cable system, new tilt/trim unit, new electronics and Ultrex.
Needs new carpet or maybe just cleaned. Lol

I got my 2002 Skeeter SX190 for $12,000 about 5 years ago. I paid cash for it. I found it on Craigslist in the fall totally randomly.

In 2002 I bought a 1996 Nitro 884 that was a credit union repo. Bid $4495.00 sight unseen and ended up owning my first bass boat. It's been a great boat!

I paid $6500 for my boat. I bought it from my friends Dad who was the original owner and treated it like a queen. It’s in better shape than some 2015 models I’ve seen and been in. Really no scratches, gel coat still looks amazing, original seats, original carpet, original trim, I just installed updated electronics (nothing fancy Helix 7 G2s) and mew Livewell pumps and I’m on the water for less than $7500. I sold my old boat for $7500 so it was an even wash.

bought a 2015 phoenix 919 this spring for 37,500. 225 Merc, 2 12' talons, minnkota ulterra, solix 12 at console, helix 10 at bow with mega 360 and helix 9. Sold the talons and the ulterra for what I bought a ultrex and 2 8' blades for. I had a 1860 flat boat before that and saved my money for several years to get this one and extremely happy with this boat.

I came across a boat on CL one evening that seemed too good to be true. This was back in 2008, the boat was a 2001 17.5 foot G3 with a 60 HP Yamaha, listed for $4,000. I was extremely skeptical until the guy told me he wasn't too good with computers, so he had his young son check the value so he knew what to sell it for. Well, the kid priced the boat, without the trailer or motor... so I just handed him cash and the deal was done!
The actual value before all the upgrades I have done was around $11,000 so I came out pretty good.

Bought my current boat in 2017, 30K brand new with the longest Mercury Platinum Policy available at the time. I traded a nine year old Cat Cougar in on the boat and stroked a check for a few thousand dollars. The current truck I pull with was bought brand new as well. It's a 2018 Tundra SR5 W/ Premium Package. I paid 40,000 for the truck in 2018.

I started with a 1200.00 aluminum rig that had a 25 HP tiller steer on the back. The boat didn't have lights, trolling motor, battery, or depth finders. I bought and installed all that as I had time and the money.

These days I see people starting with a 20'er and a 250 HP motor. They still make 14' tin rigs and 25 HP tiller steer motors. Hell, they still make a bucket and people fish off the bank. It's all about choices.

I had a paid off 07 Ranger Z21…was totaled in on the water collision. Insurance paid 46k plus 2k for some damaged lost equipment. I immediately started looking for replacement rig. Decide to go new and paid 72k plus TTL for my 16 Ranger Z521C…I was very fortunate to have cash for the difference of the insurance check and the price of the boat, so the boat was paid for in cash. Since then…all updated electronics…Ultrex…lithium’s…Forward Sonar. I don’t like to do the math of what I have in this thing now.

Bought my current boat this past May. 2003 P4 with a 2014 EtecHO, 36V Ultrex and a 12 Live at the console, nothing on the bow. Paid $23K. I swapped out the year old Interstates that it came with with my lithiums, put my Carbon 9 and my 106SV/Livescope up front. I've got a Bob's and some Raptors on order that I got some great deals on ($3K for the JP and sticks) so with that and a couple of things I added/replaced (new shift control because the trim button was sticky and a new shoot thru transducer) I'm into it for a little over $26K. The boat has been great, actually like it better than my P2 though not quite as fast but a little better when it's rough.

2008 Bass Cat Sabre w/ 150 efi Merc - bought new for $28K. It stays in the garage and looks like the day I bought it. Have done some minor electronics updates but haven't gone overboard. Not really any back story - just been a helluva boat. Handles like a rat in a drain pipe and will run 66-67 with just me - 65 on tourney launch.
