When I put the sd cards in my laptop to view the pictures only the left half of the picture shows. Note that when I click on the "crop" feature the complete picture shows. This is ocurring on several different cameras.
I thinking it's something on the laptop that is causing the problem.

Most likely the program your using to view the pictures. Try a different one.
I cant help you with the computer but if you are using an apple phone buy the apple lightning sd card to phone viewer. Plug it into your phone and your pics automatically upload to your photos. $30 new on amazon. I am sure android offers something similar.
