X21 200hp SHO broken Skeg options

    Hello all,
This past weekend I hit a tree or pipe under water and broke off a piece of my skeg. My motor is 1 1/2 years old. I would like some input on what should I consider doing. I am down to 4 options:
    A. Leave it as is.
    B. Cover it with Skeg protector.
    C. Get it welded and fixed.
    D. Get it welded and fixed with a skeg protector.

See attached photo. Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I would first see what insurance says. If it was not covered I would smooth it out and run it if it does not effect the performance. Fix it in the off season if you have one. CJ

I bought my old Triton used from a dealer down in stump city Santee Cooper. The skeg was broken similar to yours when I went to look at it and I told them to replace it. They said a business down there welds them to like new condition. They went that route and I picked up the boat after. That was 12 yrs ago and it has been fine since.

I know a guy that can fix it Friday. He use to weld for the navy, build aluminum boats, and now he does repairs. He has a good reputation so I will go see what he says then go from there. Thanks for the input guys!
