On the topic of repowering - a different flavor

Repowering something that pre-dates all bass boats.

My company does a fair amount of work at the Indy RR plant set to make those engines. Over the last 3-4 years they retooled two of the larger buildings and tore down the largest (6 million sq ft IIRC) and eliminated a bunch of jobs. Company line was to streamline and get fitter. Morale was pretty lousy. Hopefully this will brighten things up around there

I can't believe that they are repowering a 70 yo airframe. Great, the engines are new. But can them wings support the higher thrust efficient engines?

Probably cheaper than designing a new aircraft.

Higher thrust efficient engines??? Please explain what this means and what it has to do with the wings.

Should have added a comma in there. Efficiency has nothing to do with structural problems. Older military aircraft always have some negative effect when they get modded. Lots of air force acft have structural issues. Sorry dont need to talk about it on a public forum.

Probably somebody in England or Indiana has gotten rich off this deal already.
Don't bother me, I'm screwing for virginity.

I killed a 12-pack just to watch it die.

The wings on the BUFF and other older Air Force airplanes have been re-skinned and beefed up several times over the years. I'm sure added structure or another re-skin will be in order when they change the engines.

    England, they’re throttling Indiana.

I was at some glad hand bull$$it meeting and the RR CEO was stroking the crowd about how the retooling was going to make things better. Then they right sized the workforce. Laid off probably 60+% of the folks.

I read the link and I missed the higher thrust part. It appeared they were just more efficient. I will read it again.
