A lot of people can if they were smart or lucky with their money. Some bought a house for cheap then the area exploded. Others had some type of collection, whether that be old cars, baseball cards, Hot Wheels, etc and made a killing and now want to buy a new boat. It has nothing to do with “looking like a pro.” I bought a new boat but it was a 19’8” with a 225HP. No pro uses that type of boat. I wanted that boat…and can afford it.

Heck Yes everybody knows that as you can slap all the power poles, graphs and accessories you want on an undersized under powered rig and it won’t fool anyone.

If you have $2 mil or more in savings/retirement, own a business, or have a household income of $200k, with everything paid for, a new bass boat is affordable even if they are $80K. You could stay in a new boat every year for $20K. I'd say there's several around here that meets that profile.

If you think bass boats are expensive, look at flats boats like Hells Bay, almost as much as a bass boat , but a lot less boat. Even some of the older boats are going for 20-30 grand for nothing more than a skiff with a 90hp. Take a look at this one for example,,,https://www.boattrader.com/boat/2018...ional-8001947/

    .
Just got back from taking a guided fishing trip when I was in South Padre Island. The guides boat was a '22 model Shallow Sport 24 sport. Base price with no options is $92k not including trailer. Makes bass boats look like chump change.

I feel I am a lucky guy vs smart guy. We do want people to think that! Some guys work their butt off and own all kinds of toys. I generally just fly my line and enjoy the days off.

Exactly. Plenty of decent deals for brand new 18-19 foot boats with decent options. Sure, the 20-21 foot boat loaded up is expensive, but it’s mostly electronics and add ons that drive the prices.

I couldn’t agree more…I’ve been sitting around for 5 days watching the premium pay stuff come into open time, it’s tempting…but home time is so precious.
