For my money, this is the best song Merle ever recorded.

I Think I'll Just Stay Here And Drink was off his 1980 album, Back To The Barrooms, an album some considered his best album. It was unusual for a country song in that it featured an extended jam featuring Reggie Young on guitar, Larry Muhobarec on piano, and Don Markham on saxophone. Written by Merle. Turn it up and let it blast!

I think he’s advocating the use of alcohol.

I am the little dude in the picture with Merle and my family. This is after my grandfather won a Merle Haggard tournament at Shasta Lake. Love Merle's music. Real country music.

Good Story and Great Pictures Thanks for posting that Memory

I can't pick just one favorite from the Hag like way too many of them to focus in on one.

Loved those tournaments and the shows after. He had the right idea, living on Shasta!
