Dobyns Fury Swimbait 795SB (Reel Seat Issues)

No matter what Daiwa reel I put on the rod, the back of the reel seems to slip from the back and begin to wiggle in the reel seat (even with the hood locked down from the front). Classic old round Abu Garcia reels don't do it but with every Daiwa I have tried (and a few Shimano reels) this has happened. Really disappointing and any help would be great. Thank you!

I had a Daiwa Lexa WN-300 reel on that rod and didn’t have any issues. It locked in tight and didn’t move at all.

Mine is tight on that rod but you can take some teflon plumbing tape and wrap your reel seat to give some thickness to it. I've done it before. Also have used shrink wrap.

I just got that rod for my son. He has a Tatula 200 on it and it locks down tight. I have a Lew's super duty wide on mine and same thing, fits perfectly.

I have a super duty wide spool on mine and it’s absolutely fine.

You don't have a reel problem, you have a seat failure.

Dobyns has great customer service. I would call them and explain what’s going on. Most likely Gary will call you back and either give you a solution or swap your rod out. It’s that easy with them. Good luck.
