Mud daubers out of motor cover

I am thinking of using fly tags that go in the ears of cattle in my outboard cowling to keep Mud daubers out. I think they will work. Anyone tried them? Maybe dumb--I don't know but the "Dirt dobbers" are a major pain. I have known of them breaking up and causing major engine problems.

Good idea, we use them to keep crazy ants out of our electrical control boxes.

I hung a couple bags of mothballs on the back wall of the garage next to my engine, seems to work.
