New updates for GPSMAP and Echomap units

New updates have just been posted to the Garmin website:

However, for those of you that prefer to run older GLS10 software (version 2.20 or earlier), note that these latest updates only support GLS 10 version 2.30 and later. If you are running GLS10 version 2.20 or earlier and wish to continue doing so, you should not update the chartplotter to this Q4/2021 software. A change is planned to restore GLS 10 2.20 compatibility with the latest chartplotter release in a future update.

Software versions that are not compatible with GLS10 v2.20 and earlier:

GPSMap products, software version 25.30

echoMAP UHD version 18

echoMAP Ultra version 18.2

Not sure what it means by "other improvements and bug fixes" but I'll take it! I just updated mine with Active Captain from my phone and all went well with the update. I haven't had it on the water yet....

Added Beam Overlay feature to improve Panoptix display when multiple Panoptix transducers are connected.
Improved transmission of cross track error (XTE) on NMEA0183 when using a GoTo navigation.
Other improvements and bug fixes

Downloaded at work today using AC. Got home this evening mounted my two units fired everything up and the updates immediately started transferring from my iPhone to the units and the gls10. Whole process took less than 20 minutes .

Anybody have any real idea what the "Beam overlay feature" is and what it really does?
I did go ahead and install this latest update for my unit and black box. Hopefully I'll get on the water tomorrow to test it.

Haha, the way it reads it says for multiple livescopes. So I don’t know if that means multiple screens on one unit or multiple livescopes?

I have 2 sets networked. The update wiped out my 4 Choice buttons on the Bow set with the LS connected. Everything was ok on the Console set. I just refigured my 4 choice buttons.
I have 122sv sets.

The Bow set 4 buttons were: 1) Full LS
2) LS/Chart
3) LS/2D
4) LS/Chart/2D
It wiped out all buttons that had LS + other options

I've had that happen in past updates where i had LS set on the quick button.....I think that's normal.....

Another quirk that I failed to mention::::
I installed the update via SD card in my console set. It stepped through the 24XD, console set,& LS box. It then said update complete but my Bow set said "updating" which never completed. I restarted per instruction on the console screen. I then went to Devices and all are shown as updated.

I went out yesterday with the new update installed. I saw zero changes to my system. Nothing good, nothing bad for me and how I use mine.
