    2005 225HO knock?

I was fishing on Sunday and all of a sudden about 1/2 through the day it sounded like a knock at about 45 mpg and 4700 RPM. I came off plane and idled around for a little while, then put the boat back on plane and heard the sound again, so I idled 5 miles back to the ramp.

Got home, pull the plugs out, they all looked in good condition. Did a compression test all cylinders are 115 to 120.

Did a static test with the injectors and ignition, and it all seems to be working correctly.

Looking for advice, what to check next?

I may just start with the gear case, I know I have a good one that I could put right in.

Am I just looking for broken parts on the flywheel like a broken magnet?

I checked the stator and I looked under the flywheel I didn't see anything out of the ordinary, so I drain the lower unit oil out and there are definitely some metal chunks on the magnet and in the bottom of the drain pan. I guess that's the first time I was happy to see that... I have two extra lower unit so I swapped a new one in. I ran it on the hose, and everything sounded normal, but the real test will be the lake.
