    Bent winch brackets.

2008 ZX225 Skeeter. After a mishap this weekend my winch stand has bends on both sides of the bow roller. The two "tabs" on either side of the bow roller are bent at a ?30? degree angle towards port. My plan is to place a jack between the trailer and the bow eye, and lift the boat just enough to remove the entire winch stand. So first is this the right way to accomplish lifting the boat to remove the winch stand? My next question is; have the "tabs" straitened or cut off and have new ones welded on. Thanks.

It depends on the severity of the bends. Best repair would be to cut off bent tabs and weld on new ones.

Shouldn’t need a jack. Should not be much weight at all on bow roller……just loosen winch stand bolts & slide it forward.

Seconded, although you should mark the current location - IME, when installing, you won't be able to get it aft far enough and will have to adjust the at the ramp.

Or you could tie the stern to a tree and slide the boat an inch or two back.

Depending on how bad they are you may be able to straighten it in a vise.

A floor jack and a block of wood under the keel where it flattens out should take enough pressure off the bow to do what you need.
