Just fixed similar problem on my 2000 Ranger trailer Friday. First problem was the connections at the harness had some corrosion. Wire brushed and applied a dose of copper grease to the connections. Second problem was running light was out on right rear. Replaced and everything works.

OK, looks like I was all wrong on the grounding. I also have one running light smashed. Maybe that is it for me. I checked my ground wiring and it was good at the front of the pigtail. Maybe my circuit is broken at the running light.

Now that is a bit too personal!

A "smashed" light can easily short the filament circuit to ground and blow the fuse. Your issue will be on a circuit served by a Brown wire. You do NOT have a ground issue.

Check the pins in the plug, they close up. Can use a small flatblade screwdriver to open them up again. Common issue.

Check that first. If that doesn't fix it, see post #18 and rewire.

My truck is a 2012 Ford 150. I cleaned the ground wire where it was bolted to the trailer. is there another fuse box.

Look in your owners guide. There is a fuse panel inside the cab behind RF footwell kick panel but there is another under the hood on top of the radiator. I suspect you have a blown fuse in the under hood panel. There are fuses there dedicated to the trailer tow plug. The owners guide will show which fuse to look at.
